The Group
A deliberate
fifth option.
Every specialist financial business reaches the point where the next stage needs more than the founder can supply alone. The four conventional answers - the traditional holding company, private equity, the bank, or going it alone - each carry a cost you can name in advance. Acris was built as the alternative to all four.
We take a position. Then we go to work.
Acris invests in businesses it understands deeply, in markets where it already holds specialist authority. There is no fund clock, no forced exit and no head office to satisfy.
What does not change is yours: the brand, the market, the team and the authority to run it. What changes is what stands behind you.
Four things, and we are serious about all four.
Capital
Permanent capital, not a fund with a clock on it. We fund growth, acquisitions, regulatory capital and the balance sheet depth that lets a specialist business write larger risks and hold its nerve through a difficult year.
Deployed on the timeline the business needs, not on a quarter-end.
Involvement
We are operators, not observers. We sit on the board, in the numbers and in the room for the calls that carry weight - pricing, key hires, funder and insurer negotiations, the deals that change the shape of the business.
Close enough to be useful. Disciplined enough not to run it for you.
Contacts
Insurers, reinsurers, funders, banks, brokers, auditors and advisers - relationships built over careers in these markets and opened to every business in the group, locally and in London.
The introduction that takes a specialist three years to earn becomes a phone call away.
Artificial intelligence
AI is a standing capability at the centre, built once and deployed inside each business: underwriting and credit assessment, document and data extraction, client servicing, and the operating discipline behind them.
A funded programme with an owner and a roadmap, not a pilot. Small teams that use it well outrun larger ones that do not.
We are the right shareholder for a narrow set of businesses.
A defensible position in a niche we can understand and underwrite ourselves. We are not buying market share. We are buying authority in a market that rewards it.
We back people who intend to keep running the business, and we structure so that they benefit from what they build next. Succession we can plan for over years. Abdication we cannot.
Profitable, or a short and credible path to it. We are patient about time. We are not patient about unit economics.
Credit, insurance, risk transfer and the infrastructure that sits behind financial intermediaries, in South Africa and into Africa. If we cannot add contacts and judgment as well as money, we are the wrong shareholder and we will say so.
We do not invest in retail brokerages or advisory practices. They are key partners and clients of every business in the group, and an important part of where the synergy across our investments sits.
A conversation, not a process.
It starts with a confidential conversation. Where there is a fit, you will have an indicative structure in front of you within weeks, not months - early enough to judge the substance before either side spends money on due diligence.
How we structure it is open: majority or minority, staged over time, with or without a continuing founder stake. The standard we hold the business to never changes.
What we already hold.

A specialist lender to corporate South Africa. PFP finances annual insurance premiums on behalf of brokers and their clients: the insurer is paid in full, the client repays in equal monthly instalments, and cashflow stays intact.
premiumfinancepartners.co.za
South Africa's first dedicated wholesale brokerage. We place credit insurance, alternative risk transfer and provide market access on complex risk placements - always alongside the retail broker, never in front of them.
srtglobal.co.za
A boutique for financial intermediaries taking their next step. Acquisition funding, independent practice valuations and sell-side advisory - funding growth and enabling succession.
cspartners.co.zaAcris comes from the Latin acer: sharp, precise, discerning. A standard, not a slogan.
